As a team, we love Parkdale. Parkdale is a neighbourhood sandwiched between Roncesvalles and liberty village. The homes are beautiful Victorians, and the community was, at one time, a very affluent spot. Parkdale is now one of the most diverse neighbourhoods in Toronto. Diverse culturally, economically and socially. It has million-dollar homes and rooming houses on the same streets. Large Victorian mansions sit sandwiched next to low-income apartment buildings. The community in Parkdale is deeply committed to the area. It is one of the best neighbourhoods in the whole city, in our humble opinion.

The rising real estate prices in the city have threatened the community of Parkdale. A lot of the low-income rentals have been lost to gentrification. As real estate agents, we acknowledge the role that the real estate market plays in this unique community. This is why we were so excited to read that the Parkdale Neighbourhood Land Trust recently purchased a sizeable rental building to keep these units as affordable rental housing. Parkdale Neighbourhood Land Trust is a group that is organising to buy and preserve affordable housing. By preserving affordable housing, they are also keeping the community and neighbourhood that we all love. We are so thankful to the PNLT for the work that they do.
