The summer market is slow. This is to be expected and very normal. What should you do to survive it? Or, depending on your situation, benefit from it? Basically, in a slow market, sellers need to survive it, and buyers will benefit from it.

  1. If you are a seller: Ask yourself, “Do I absolutely need to sell my house right now?” If the answer is no, don’t do it! Most of the buyers are living their best lives at the cottage right now. If you list your house now, it will probably still sell, but you won’t get as much buyer frenzy, and you will possibly make less money than you could make in the fall. Your survival guide tip is to go out and enjoy the summer. Go to the zoo. Rent a cottage. Do some painting and gardening to get ready to put your house on the market in September.

  2. If you are a buyer: This is your time to shine. While your competition is drinking mimosas on the dock, you can be house shopping with less pressure. Don’t waste this brief window of opportunity where the market briefly blows in your favour. Your survival tip is to start pounding the pavement and buy a house.

Separate from real estate, we hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful summer. Patios are open, and life is hopeful! Take care and stay safe.
