It’s patio session! We all deserve a big congratulations for getting through past long winter. Now it’s time to head to a patio, drink a margarita and feel the stress leave our bodies.

There are so many great patios in Roncesvalles, so this is not a definitive list. There are two different ways that patios can be great. Some patios feel like a total retreat from the city. They’re lush and quiet, with ambiance galore. Some are ideal for people watching while soaking up the sun.

Here are our picks for the top five patios in Roncesvalles:

  1. Bandit Brewery: 2125 Dundas St West.

This patio is a retreat from the city and an ideal people-watching spot. It serves up its own craft beer, and the kitchen offers its own creative comfort food. The best part is that the huge patio at Bandit Brewery is located right on Dundas St. west for oogling the city life while also featuring twinkly lights and actual trees planted around the patios. It’s a magical place of food, drink and city life.

  1. Round the Horn: 331 Roncesvalles Ave

This is a laid-back sports bar with an emphasis on the Laid Back part. But, it has an impressive beer menu and serves very yummy hot dogs. The back patio transports you to a world where you can drink beer on a sunny afternoon, and nothing else matters. It is secluded and green with plants and hanging lights. Sit back, have a hot dog and beer, and take a vacation from your problems.

  1. Sunnyside Cafe: 1755 Lakeshore BLVD

This one isn’t technically in Roncesvalles, but it’s arguably one of the West’s best patios. Located right on the beach’s boardwalk, you can sit here, eat your seafood linguini and feel like you’re on a faraway beach on vacation.

  1. Loons Restaurant: 416 Roncesvalles Ave

Loons is a great pub offering the burgers, fries and chicken wings as you hope for when you walk into a pub. But, their huge backyard patio takes this restaurant to a whole new level. It is a multi-level deck secluded and intimate while still being expansive enough to have a large capacity. It had a few large trees in the middle of the patio and Muskoka chairs if you just really want to feel like you’re at the cottage.

  1. Sushi on Roncey: 293 Roncesvalles Ave

Back in the days before COVID, Sushi on Roncey was a regular meeting spot for our team, especially in patio season. The sushi is delicious and fresh, but the patio is magical. It is secluded and small enough that it’s never loud or busy.
